Exhibition Dates: August 28 - October 18

We are proudly presenting our sixth annual “Hooked on the Salmon River,” a themed exhibition that celebrates fishing and the beauty of the Salmon River. The exhibit was developed to feature work from the region’s fine artists inspired by this beautiful and swift-flowing river that runs through the small historic village of Pulaski, drawing fishermen, nature enthusiasts and tourists from all over the globe.

All styles and genres of fine art and fine craft will be accepted from both emerging and established artists 18 and older. Artwork must have been completed in the last two years.

Prospectus, entry form and tags. Please read the Art Exhibition Prospectus for detailed information on guidelines and requirements, awards announcement, entry procedure, and entry form and tags.

Application deadline. August 3.

Notification of acceptance. Artists will be notified via email of acceptance into the show on August 8.

Submit artwork. The dates to hand deliver artwork are August 21- August 23, gallery hours, or by scheduled appointment.

Exhibition. The exhibition will be from August 28 - October 18 in the Fine Arts Center and can be seen during gallery hours.

Opening reception and awards ceremony. The opening reception will be held at the Arts Center on Friday, August 29, 6 - 8 pm; the awards ceremony begins at 7 pm.

Pick up art. Artwork can be picked up October 23 - 25 during gallery hours or by scheduled appointment.

Our Juror for the 2025 Hooked on Salmon River Juried Art Show

Kristy (Askins) Hoover is an award winning multimedia artist living and predominantly working in Watertown, New York. She received both her BFA (2015) and her MA (2019) in Studio Art at SUNY Oswego, where she has taught at SUNY Oswego’s College of Media and The Arts since 2020. She co-manages Orion Art Gallery and Studio, where she acts as Manager for the Ceramic Studio as well as instructor for a variety of Fine Arts classes for youth, adults and seniors. She also serves as the Installation Coordinator, Gallery Curator, and Events Coordinator at Orion Art Gallery and Studio since their opening in 2020. Kristy has also spent the last 5 years snow sculpting and teaching workshops in this medium, creating various sculptures in Clayton, NY , at River Muse and Lion's Park, Orion Art Gallery and Studio, in Alexandria Bay, and in Watertown. She has played an integral role in a team for Snowtown USA years 2022-2025 and now serves on the board as a member of Snowtown USA. Kristy supports Jefferson Community College as adjunct staff when needed. Kristy continues to share her love of the arts by volunteering for various other organizations while remaining dedicated to her own creative practice, consistently developing both 2 and 3 dimensional works. Kristy's purpose and vision as an artist and creator is to be a voice for social justice and personal affliction.
